Our story
The Inspiration Behind Cynthia Care
Cynthia Care began with a single moment at the Royal Victoria Hotel in Sheffield. Invited by his daughter, a social worker, to present prizes to children in care, founder Johnny Nelson MBE came face to face with the scale of the crisis — around a hundred young people, many without parents, stable homes, or consistent support.
When he learned this was only “the tip of the iceberg,” the direction was set.
An MBE recipient for services to young people, Johnny has spent a lifetime championing the next generation. Cynthia Care is the continuation of that work — creating lasting, meaningful change as young people move toward adulthood.
